FARMINGTON, N.Y. – Anstu Stables’ Ibboyee was a six and three-quarter length winner of the 47th running of the New York Breeders’ Futurity on Saturday at Finger Lakes Gaming and Racetrack. The Todd Pletcher-trainee finished the six furlong sprint for New York-bred 2-year-olds in a time of 1:12.23.

The margin of victory was similar to Ibboyee’s previous win at Finger Lakes. He took the $150,900 Aspirant Stakes by six and one-quarter lengths on September 7. Jockey Cornelio Velasquez was aboard the undefeated colt for both six furlong triumphs.

"He’ll be even better with more distance", said Velasquez. "Three-quarters is too short for him."

Velasquez stalked the early pace of the event before angling the $308,138 earner out to score the comfortable victory. "He broke good and he win easy", said Velasquez. "He’s a nice horse."

Ibboyee was sent off the post time favorite and paid $3.00, $2.10 and $2.10. Dahlgren Chapel earned the place position behind his rival for the second consecutive time to pay $3.70 and $2.60. Hook Me Up, one of the two fillies in the race was third and returned $2.20.

The $314,263 purse for the New York Breeders’ Futurity was the second largest of any race ever run at Finger Lakes. The 2008 running of the stake had a record purse of $318,525.

Proud Puppy Handicap

Natalicat won the $50,000 Proud Puppy Handicap by a neck for trainer J. Michael Rogers. The 5-year-old mare completed the six furlong sprint for fillies and mares 3-years-old and up in a time of 1:12.10.

The $213,464 earner owned by Stuart Grant was guided to her eighth career victory by jockey John Grabowski. She was the fourth choice in the wagering and paid $11.80, $5.60 and $3.00. Afleet Alexandra finished second and returned $3.50 and $2.10. Sweet Lorena was third and paid $2.10

The Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Ontario County won the Charity Cup competition and received $10,000 of the $30,000 pool for the event. The five other participating not-for-profit organizations included: Special Olympics, M.A.D.D., Alzheimer Association, Children Awaiting Parents, and the Pirate Toy Fund.

The final two stakes races of the 2009 season at Finger Lakes Gaming and Racetrack will be for 2-year-olds. The $50,000 Juvenile fillies will take place on October 17 and the $50,000 Finger Lakes Juvenile is scheduled for October 31. Both events will be run at a distance of six furlongs.
